Race Vermont
The Automaster Shelburne Half Marathon & 5K/10K
May 3 @ 8:00 am – 12:00 pm
Beginning and ending at Shelburne Field House, the half marathon is a loop course in picturesque Shelburne, Vermont. You’ll be running on a combination of dirt and back roads including a portion on the Meach Cove property, running past Shelburne Farms, and a stretch of Harbor Road with beautiful views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks. The 5K and 10K courses are both out-and-back courses that run along Harbor Road and back. The 5K is relatively flat, whereas the 10K has a couple of hills.
Saucony Charlotte Covered Bridge Half Marathon & 5K/10K
September 6 @ 8:00 am – 11:30 am
This is definitely one of our racers’ favorite races. There are no huge hills and the scenery is beautiful. Beginning and ending at picturesque Shelburne Beach, you will run along dirt, gravel and paved roads featuring scenic views of Vermont countryside and rural farmland. Run past Charlotte Beach situated on beautiful Lake Champlain just before entering the Holmes Creek Covered Bridge for the first time. The course continues on quiet, rolling hills before arriving at the turnaround. The half marathon runs through the covered bridge twice. The 5K and 10K turn around before reaching the bridge (although it’s not that far beyond the 10K turnaround, so if you want to run through it, it’s not going to add that much to your finish time for 10K runners).
Shelburne Farms 5K
September 28 @ 8:00 am – 10:00 am
This is a classic Racevermont.com race limited to only 200 racers which, understandably, sells out year after year. The course is a combination of gravel paths (not loose), wooded and field trails, and dirt roads and it will take you from the Coach Barn, to the wood lot, out past a sugar house, beautiful fields, through the woods, and back around past the Swiss Brown Cow barn and the historic Shelburne Inn.

Solar Eclipse:
When is the 2024 eclipse?

The total solar eclipse will occur on Monday, April 8, 2024, at around 3:26:11 p.m. in Shelburne and will last for approximately 3 minutes.
Eye Safety for Total Solar Eclipses
Here are some important safety guidelines to follow during a total solar eclipse.
- You can view the Sun through eclipse glasses or a handheld solar viewer during the partial eclipse phases before and after totality.
- You can view the eclipse directly without proper eye protection only when the Moon completely obscures the Sun’s bright face – during the brief and spectacular period known as totality. (You’ll know it’s safe when you can no longer see any part of the Sun through eclipse glasses or a solar viewer.)
- As soon as you see even a little bit of the bright Sun reappear after totality, immediately put your eclipse glasses back on or use a handheld solar viewer to look at the Sun.

About the Campaign
Welcome to the 29th Annual Penguin Plunge!
This long-standing and fun Vermont tradition promotes awareness about the needs and accomplishments of people with intellectual disabilities and raises essential funds for Special Olympics Vermont.

The Penguin Plunge brings in 40% of our operating budget, and the success of this event will be critical. This past year, we’ve been able to host more in-person events and larger competitions, helping over 2,000 Vermont athletes stay active and healthy and allowing them to reconnect with our community. The 2024 Burlington Penguin Plunge will provide the funding necessary to continue our programs throughout the year.
Thank you for being so supportive – We look forward to plunging with you!
I’ve got 20 days left before my fellow @vtletr friends and I jump into the lake, and there’s still time to donate! @specialolympicsvermont has quickly become an organization near and dear to my heart!
I am so grateful for the opportunity to not only represent Shelburne Police at events but also connect with athletes. I’d appreciate it if you’d consider donating to the cause!! The link is below!
